INTERROGATIONS & INTERVIEWS

Dreamers & Believers. Explain the name. Go.

We believe in our dreams and our passion. We believe in ourselves and each other. We decide what we want to be and we try not to let anything interfere our dream.

Tell me about your current projects and previous works..

Me (Stacia) and Dinta have been working on a lot of projects together, mostly for fun. And then one day we just thought, “hey might as well do something more serious. We can do that.” So here we are. We just finished shooting The Mad Hatter’s collection. Now we’re working on the extended version of it, because we’re kind of ending the first season. Think of it as a teaser and those who got them are very very special. Also, don’t forget to keep checking our work. You’ll be surprised with what we are up to next.

Tell me more about this art-collective. Who’s doin’ what and what’s what and all..

It started simply by sharing the same interest of all things nice and artistics. We’re a story-teller, a jewellery maker, a collector, a dreamer. We adore inventors, so might as well try to be one. We pretty much do everything together. Dinta learned jewellery before so she’s more of an expert. I deal more in the graphic sides. We learned a lot from each other. There’s a good combination here.

What do you all believe in?

We believe in creativity and open mindedness. We believe in dreams and obsessions. We believe in ourselves and what we’re doing. We believe in random stuff that actually matters than politics. We believe in our friend who wears sunglasses inside the room, eating nutella. We believe that we were the first people who landed on the moon. We believe that we invent post-it. We believe that santa still comes down from the chimney. We believe that we can jump around clouds. We believe that someone actually has a job as a dreamcatcher. We believe that when we die, we’ll turn into colourful dust and blew to heaven

The perfect soundtrack for your art collective?

Kate Bush - “Running Up That Hill”

The Flaming Lips - “Do You Realize”

Lou Reed - “Take A Walk On The Wild Side”

and at the moment we’re obsessed with the new Air song, “Sing Sang Sung”

In your tumblr site, you say that you all don’t over-think & have creative open mindedness. So you don’t limit your collective in creating anything? What are your future projects then?

In the mean time, we’re planning to do an extended version of the Mad Hatter’s collection. We’re just so happy that the response were pretty good. And we just can’t get enough of these pompoms. Whats after The Mad Hatters is a surprise. Just wait and see.

FUN is your main ‘theme’. What do you all do for fun that orchestrate and influences your work?

We both meet pretty much every day. We would start working together kicking ideas around over a bottle of red wine or over a long random bike ride and see how far we could push an idea and then see if we could pull it off. Magically we always do!

Art collective as opposed to brand. Are you more comfortable with the collective word than brand? Why?

Well yes because here, we’re free to do whatever we want to do. In our work, we always try in every way to create what we ‘feel’ for. It’s like an art space and you can go crazy. When we’re bored with what we’re doing, we can sit back, have some tea and dream of the next project which will be totally different. And yes sometimes it would be totally random, but it’s exciting. There’s no limit. We’ll get a new energy towards the project, without losing our identity. There’s a story in every collection.

What’s with the mad hatter-alice in wonderland themes? Do you all have a thing for fairytales and witty stories?

Both of us are obsessed with witty stories. One day we were having tea, talking about our theme, it just popped. It was just a random idea and Mad Hatter was just a perfect image to characterized this season.

I’ve seen your wicked and witty necklace slash jewellery. Where do ya got those inspirations? Lemme guess. Dreams?

The funny thing is, most people, when they sleep, they dream about something, they wake up, then poof it’s gone. For us, it’s a bit different. We wake up, we keep on dreaming. There’s a good side, and bad side about that. But you know, people get their inspiration from different things. There’s one saying that it’s better to dream when you’re awake. And that actually work for us. We got a lot of inspirations from our dreams and obsessions, conversation, our friends, talented people, music, colours, old pictures, red wine, giggles, late nights and pillow talk. We went to see Goldfrapp the other day. They blew our mind and that’s where we got our inspiration on using pompoms in our collections.

Syntax question: do androids dream of electric sheep?

Do electric sheeps dream of androids? We want to believe they do. We believe that animals can dream about human, and the other way around. Imagine how cool is that.
