Why the album takes so long to complete?

Itta: Actually the run down in the recording process is properly planned. But, it turns out that there are a couple of things that delay the recording process such as reviewing the song material so it can come out great!

Ykha: Lots of bumpy road for the band, each of us got busy with other stuff, got older...got fatter hahaha... Kinda had it with the album question. I mean 3 years and still not done yet. Even I wonder about that too. Do you know how many had asked that question? Pffffffttttt... Technical problems, bla bla bla..

 

There’s not many Riot grrrl acts in Indonesia. Are you guys familiarize with the Riot grrrl movement of the early nineties, with bands such as Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, L7 and Le Tigre?

Itta: YES! I've heard some RRRiot girl band 90-ies of the era, such as: Chicks on Speed, Stereo Total, Lesbians on Ectasy, Jullie Ruin! Even before the era of riot girl: Slits, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Peaches, The Runaways, Lizzy Mercier descloux, etc.. To cool not to listen!

Ykha: 90s was awesome...Veruca Salt, 7 Year Bitch, The Breeders... First time I hear 'Volcano Girl' playing on the radio, I form a band immediately (kelas 2 SMP). I forgot what was the name my old band, I was the guitarist there...and I really suck at it. We never got a gig. Hahaha..

 

I think CUTS is one the most musically diverse band on Fast Forward records, combining punk and minimal electronica. What have you guys been listening to at this moment?

Itta: Too much to say here, I don't care about the genre. Whatever I like, I hear it with great responsibility!

Ykha: Me? Nothing at this moment... Nowadays I let the shuffle officer decide for me. I am in that "bored as hell with my playlist" phase.

 

Talking about Fast Forward records, how's the label treating you?

Itta: In short, they are a label, which is filled with friendly and good people, which can be consulted openly about anything in the music context spectrum.

Ykha: Great people, nice taste in music. They really help us by guiding for the new materials for the album, level-up the sounds. Big thanks to Hendra RNRM too for that part.

 

You girls do a lot of stagedives. Are there any harrasment towards both of You as a female vocalist?

Itta: We really enjoy it when the audience sing our songs so wild, and they raised us one by one. This is very crazy, and that's when I feel that I'm too young to die! HA HA.

Ykha: No. Our audience are quite loyal...the front row always cover our back. One time when I'm about to jump, one of the audience scream "Don't forget! Land on your back, not your boobs!! Careful!" ...so I guess they cover our "front" too haha!

 

Some bands wanted to have a simple setup on stage, but you guys like the challenge of not using a bass instrument and using samples. Can you elaborate on the subject?

Itta: Precisely because we use sample the stage becomes more simple. Not so crowded with the additional member, which may affect our activities on the stage such as running or jumping around from here to there. Haha.

Ykha: I just like to scream my lungs out. That's my part. Let the guys who understand the instrument or samples answer that... I just like it when the screaming and the instrument/samples sound fits together... It's like chocolate & tongue.

 

You have a song called “Beringas”. Tell us your most “Beringas” moments then!

Itta: Killing a pair of cockroaches who were making love in my room. DIE DIE DIE!!!

Ykha: Punching a guy in the face. Coz he talks like a girl.

 

How's the preparation for your concert and album release & Future projects for CUTS?

Itta: We do not work alone or individually. We have a great team. Thank them and let us equate the sound. AAAA!! World tour, Amen!!

Ykha: It has to be AWESOME. That's the plan.
